Replaced end of life chiller with a Carrier 30RBP410-R 405kW air cooled system on the client’s rooftop using crane lift

Klimatec replaces end of life air cooled chiller for private client in Surrey.

We removed the end of life chiller and replaced with a Carrier 30RBP410-R 405kW air cooled system which suited the available space on the client’s rooftop using crane lift.

To achieve this Klimatec engineers isolated and decommissioned the client’s original chiller, disconnected all water pipework, mains power and BMS cables. We remove the original chiller from the roof by crane. The chiller will be disposed of, and waste transfer notes issued. The new replacement chiller was delivered to site and craned back into the original location. The existing concrete plinths were suitable to accommodate the new chiller.

The 5” pipework was modified and reduced from the existing IV’s and DRV’s to 4”. The new installation allows for the pipework to connect either end of the chiller, allowing water to flow through the shell and tube heat exchanger.

  • Complete validation works including water sample analysis

  • Removed end of life chiller by crane lift

  • Replaced with new Carrier chiller

  • Pipework was modified to allow for the new chiller install

  • New chiller is a plate heat exchanger

  • Mains power terminated into new outdoor isolator with tails extended into the chiller control panel

  • Carrier commissioned the new chiller

The new chiller is a plate heat exchanger and required both sets of pipes to be connected at the same end.

Mains power had to be terminated via a new outdoor isolator with the tails extended into the chiller control panel. The existing tails into the chiller are 4 core 120mm by two cables giving a total of 4 core 240mm cables. BMS cables were slightly extended and run into the new chiller. All new pipework was insulated using silver backed insulation and insulation bags used to cover any valves or line components. The chilled water was commissioned and balanced at the chiller.

Carrier completed the commissioning of the new chiller. BMS engineers attended during commissioning to ensure the chiller communicates with the existing system.
